3 Ridiculously Easy, Last Minute Bookish Halloween Costumes | Happy Halloween!

Happy halloween (for tomorrow)! I actually can’t believe that October is ending, this month has completely flown in. Does anyone have anything fun planned for Halloween? Finding a costume is meant to be a fun thing, but it’s actually ridiculously stressful. I was planning on dressing up as Daenerys from Game of Thrones this weekend, and trying to find a nice, affordable wig that wasn’t going to make me look insane was pretty much impossible. My plans ended up being cancelled so I didn’t get to dress up in the end, which is probably for the best. As I now know the struggle of finding a cheap, easy costume, I thought I’d help you out. Here are some ridiculously easy costumes inspired by fictional characters.

  1. Katniss Everdeen

What you  need – a leather jacket, dark trousers, a side braid, Mockingjay pin, bow and arrow (a fake one obviously, don’t ruin your Halloween by getting arrested for having a weapon).

How – literally all you have to do for this costume is find simple clothes that wouldn’t look out of place in District 12, hunting in the woods. As I’m a loser, I have an actual Mockingjay pin, but if you don’t, just print out a picture of the pin and stick it to your leather jacket. Put your hair in a side braid and you’re ready to go!

Why – thanks to the movies, everyone will recognise the costume so you won’t have to have the same awkward conversation explaining who you are every five minutes.

       2. Isabelle Lightwood

What you need – black eyeliner/body paint, a party dress/skinny jeans and crop top, leather jacket

How – Izzy always looks flawless, so put on your nicest outfit and make sure your hair is perfect. Google some rune templates and try to copy them onto your arms and chest with the eyeliner/body paint as best as you can. Easy!

Why – this is maybe a bit of cheat since I’m going with Izzy from the Shadowhunters tv show, but it’s still based on a book character so I’m including it anyway. This is perfect if you have to wear a costume, but still want to look nice.

 3. Harry Potter

What Image result for harry potteryou need – eyeliner/body paint, glasses, school uniform/jeans and t-shirt, wand

How – if you’re still in school, just wear your regular uniform and imagine you’re wearing a Gryffindor tie. If you don’t have a uniform, just wear regular jeans and a t-shirt, as long as you have the scar and glasses, you’re sorted.

Why – it’s so easy and unless they’ve been living under a rock, everyone will know who you are.

What are you guys doing for Halloween? Are you dressing up as a fictional character? Let me know!

Love these ideas! I shall keep them in mind for next year 😀 Like you, I didn’t end up dressing up this year either. Although last year I was dressed up as a skull bride thing (have no idea what I was meant to be, to be honest) and a couple of years before that I was Genie from Aladdin 🙂
