I went for lunch earlier this week with my best friend Kayleigh and as usual, we ended up discussing books. We’re both big readers, so every time we meet we inevitably end up chatting about our favourite recent reads. Whilst we were talking we moved onto the subject of book clubs, and how annoying it is that there are no book clubs aimed at young adults in our local area. Long story short, we decided that instead of just complaining, why not create our own?
Therefore, I’m so excited to announce that we are to start our own monthly book club! Our plan is that at the start of each month we will choose a new book to read. The book might be a reread of one of our old favourites or a new read that we’re both trying for the first time. I’m excited to use the book club as an excuse to get Kayleigh to read some of my favourites (I’m finally going to get her to read some historical romance)! We’ll each write a post at the start of the month explaining why we chose the book as well as some general information about the book. If the story catches your interest, please feel free to read along with us! We would love for more people to get involved. At the end of the month, we will then post a review/chat discussing our thoughts on the book. Although we have really similar taste, there have been some books that we’ve disagreed on, so I’m excited to see how mine and Kayleigh’s opinions differ! Again, we would love to know if you’ve read the book too and what your thoughts were on it. The more reviewers, the merrier!
We decided to kick our book club off with Stephenie Meyer’s The Host as it’s one of our favourite books, and it’s been a while since we both read it. Although Stephenie Meyer is a bit of a controversial writer, I’ve always really loved The Host. It’s such a unique, interesting plot filled with great characters and one of my favourite YA couples (Wanda and Ian obviously). I can’t wait to reread it and see if I still enjoy it as much!
I’ll be back at the end of the month to discuss The Host with Kayleigh. As I said, if you’re interested in reading/rereading this months book then please feel free to join in with us!
